Introducing "Thandie Art" by Nothando Montgomery (Née Mgodla)

Originally from Zimbabwe, Nothando moved to Scotland as a teenager with her family. She went on to study law at the University of Glasgow, and in her leisure time took a class in jewellery making at her local college. She discovered her talent for abstract art during the design stage of a jewellery project: 

"We were encouraged by our tutor to consider different forms and lines around us, both natural and manmade, abstracting them down into shapes we could fabricate into wearable objects. I found this process gave me a new set of eyes, and changed how I observed the world around me."

She started experimenting with these lines and forms using acrylic paint at home, and soon found herself producing small abstract paintings. On the encouragement of her now husband, she began sharing and selling her work on social media and Etsy.

Still early in her art journey, Nothando's output is often varied and experimental, as she explores different mediums, themes and colours.
